I-Cybie Cost Reduction

There appears to be at least two major versions of I-Cybie. The latest version seems to be a cost reduction with the following changes:
  1. Cost cut version has a duller finish to the paint. In comparison, the original version had something that looked like a clear coat.
  2. Modifications were made to the components inside the head. The head shell from the cost cut version no longer seems to fit on the original version. It could though with some modifications.
  3. The removable expansion cartridge no longer has the traces to hold two flash chips. Don't be deceived by the visible gold traces that make up the 40 pin edge connector. If you open up the cartridges, these traces go to nothing. There is no silk screen and pads for adding the flash chips (link)
  4. The main processor board is called REV K. There seems to be some minor changes in the firmware. The power on blinking of the eyes is different between the versions. Also, there may be some differences in the battery low voltage set points. (link)
  5. The voice recognition board has new EMI changes (link)
  6. The power board is now double sided. Large traces carrying the power are on the top layer (link)
  7. The mini diode/cap board attached to each motor now has a slot added for ventilation (link)
  8. There is now a plastic mounting system for the feedback potentiometers (link)
  9. The mini junction board used to connect wiring on each leg has been removed (link)
  10. The plastic tampering stops used to cover some screws that hold the body halves together have been removed (link)
